Women's Sailing Program

“Yes, we put Women at the Helm too!”

re you an avid sailor?  Just getting into sailing? Is your significant other the “real” sailor and you’re petrified that they’ll fall off the boat and leave you in charge? Has your daughter been aboard with us and you’re just itching to get on-board too? Are you in need of some time away just for yourself?

Come sail a Tall Ship with us!

Following the spirit of Sisters Under Sail, our women’s sailing program is a shared-learning experience just for women. Tallship Unicorn's all-female professional crew establish a fun and stimulating learning environment. Work side-by-side with other like-minded women and learn…

  • paper navigation
we of course have all the electronic bells and whistles

  • tall ship sail theory
Unicorn has over 7000 square feet of canvas

  • climb the rigging
you know you’ve been dying to try this

  • take the helm
    an awesome feeling

“I am very pleased that Sisters Under Sail has been such a success with the girls and with the women. National Women’s Sailing Association is glad to support Sisters Under Sail. We are a match.”

The details:

The first 2 Women’s voyages are centered around the Tall Ships Greenport Festival over Memorial Day Weekend. Several other Tall Ships – Bounty, Picton Castle, Pride of Baltimore II and Lynx will be tied up with Unicorn for the long weekend with lots of fun crew activities! Women who select these initial passages can stay for most of the weekend, help run deck tours and enjoy the festivities. For general planning purposes, you will board us on a Sunday evening at 6pm and depart on the following Friday afternoon at 3pm.

The accommodations:

Accommodations are shared with 2 women per cabin with an on suite head. Although we cannot provide wine or beer aboard ship, you are welcome to bring some spirits along to enjoy while at anchor or in port. Our cook prepares delicious meals that are nutritionally balanced and low in carbohydrates.

Putting over 250 women at the helm since 2005.
A liberating and powerful experience!

The travel plans:

LaGuardia is the airport that best serves Bridgeport, CT and New York City. JFK is the airport that best serves Long Island, but the train station in Oyster Bay is less than ½ mile from where the boat docks. The Oyster Bay train will take you directly into Penn Station. There is a ferry service out of Greenport as well.

“The tall ship experience helped to remind me that adventures are what make life. Ships are meant to be sailed, not left in the harbor. Life is meant to be lived.”
